I have for so long seen English text as some kind of code for me to decipher. But my present view of English text is that for most of prosaic, ordinary documents, I can see them as expression rather than code. There is someone who wrote the text to each document. There is an idea to be expressed (that is, what someone wanted to say to someone) and it needed a form for communication, that's the language.

When you have something to say and your language is English, it is a matter of course that you use English. English text written by English native speakers might look like code on its surface, but behind every sentence there is an idea. An idea can be expressed either in English or any other language. If English is applied, words must comply with the English syntactic system, the English grammar. And for this purpose of communication, particular words are opted for for use. That is what is presented before you when you read something written in English.

Generally, for every sentence you read, you can read the intent or idea more than read it as code to translate. This viewpoint may make some difference when you work on the written in English. You may feel the language as something "living."
