速読と精読の基本的な違い

Presently, should I aim at speed reading?

Speed reading is in itself some kind of art. It's like what athletes do. We may be amazed at and stare at an excellent play of a sport or game. But it is you, not the athletes. The feeling of the amazedness is, in this case, of yours - the spectator's. Speed reading may only be fun when you can feel you're reading very fast. But if not so, you may be somewhat frustrated.

On the other hand, sentences are also in itself some kind of art. Those things are art in that they are artificially composed. Close reading enables you to taste and appreciate sentences as a kind of art. English sentences written by English native speakers are work of maestros in terms of skills of that language. They are neatly and appropriately composed. That's amazing to see. That could be fun regardless of what speed you read at.

I may miss this fun if I am focused too much on speed reading.
