日本人英語日記ブログがあまりない(気がする)理由
There are many Japanese who learn English. But I'm curious why, as far as I have seen, there are not so much population of Japanese learners of English who keep their online English diaries. I here consider possible causes of it.
A possible cause is that it could be difficult to gain readers of such kind of diary. If you write your diary in English, probably you think you will gain less readers than you write in Japanese. Particularly if you aim at Japanese readers. This may lessen your motivation of making English diary posts. Plus, a learner's diary is very likely to contain many errors in grammar and choice of words. Readers who are learners may judge that to read such text might have a negative effect on their own learning English or at least might not be so much cost-effective in terms of time spent reading, particularly for beginner-level readers. This also may lead to the prospect that it must be hard to gain many readers.
Another possible cause is this: your opinion may be that as a output practice, conversation is better than writing. Is it a right view? Maybe so or maybe not. It is not my primary interest to determine whether this be true or not. Maybe it depends on each person's purpose and mental disposition.
And yet another cause could be that meagerness in size. The population of Japanese bloggers who run English diary blogs is far from great. This itself could be a cause of its meagerness again. That is, this may badly discourage potential bloggers of the same genre, who may otherwise start their English diary blogs. The population of the genre could thus remain little...
But, anyway, output practice is required, or indispensable, to improve my English skills. So I need to do output practice and I find for me keeping a diary seems suitable. Therefore I wanted a place to post my diarial writings. It is why I started this blog.
I can reasonably predict that what I write here will teem with grammatical errors. For now, my aim in keeping an English diary here is not to compose a grammatically impeccable text. That still is a far point to reach. What I aim here is to do output practice, whatever the content will be.
